The predicted favourites Real Bajo Nueva (RBN) won the UMMOA Premier League in confident fashion today, after defeating surprise package Wake Rangers 4-2 on aggregate in the final.
RBN didn’t lose a single game in the tournament, and topped Group A ahead of AFC Midway.
AFC Midway later succumbed to Wake in the semifinal, but clinched 3rd spot after a comfortable 2-0 victory over Howland Celtic in the 3rd place playoff.
Baker Athletic defeated Navassa United to come 5th, and FC Jarvis thrashed Palmyra Villa to come 7th.
Spartak Lisianksi came in automatic last place or 9th, having been brutalised by three UMMOA League teams, yet managed to tie with 5th place Navassa United.
Sporting Johnston on the night of 15 April announced that they could not participate in the inaugural UMMOA Premier League. In a statement, Captain Jonnie Rees said, “We are truely gutted to pull out but, in reality, had no choice. We will be back next time”. All Sporting Johnston’s matches in Group A were annulled.
